Porthleven Hurricane

The Meteorological Office issued a warning of very high winds and seas on Monday 10th March 2008 and at Porthleven that`s exactly what was experienced.

At Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose at 1550hrs a Maximum Wind Gust of 74.8 mph or 120.4 km/h was recorded.

Hurricane strength or Force 12 on the Beaufort Scale is 73-83 mph, so that puts the wind strength just into the hurricane bracket!
